History & Flavors - Loulé and Vilamoura (Full Day)

With the valuable contribution of archeology, it is known today that the presence of man in the Municipality of Loulé dates back to the Ancient Paleolithic. In the following millenniums, in the period of the Metal Age, the incursion of the peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean, which progressively penetrate the South-West Peninsular, culminating with the arrival of the Phoenicians and the Carthaginians. They founded the first factories on the seafront of the territory of the current municipality, promoting fishing, exploration of metallurgy and commercial activity.

From the middle of the second century BCE, after the Second Punic War, the Romans give new impetus to economic activities by developing the canning industry, agriculture and the mining of copper and iron.

With the conquest of the Muslims in the 8th century, the medieval city was born, which will generate the current historic city. Al-'Ulya '(Loulé) is described for the first time, on the eve of the Christian reconquest, in the Arab chronicles of Ibne Saide and Abd Aluhaid, as a small fortified and prosperous Almedina (City), belonging to the Kingdom of Niebla, under the command of Taifa Ibne Mafom.

- We visited the municipal market with all its tipicism and bustle; The interesting Municipal Museum and the important Historical Center of the village with its ancient walls.
- We then head for the cosmopolitan Marina of Vilamoura where we will visit the Marina on a walking tour on the way to "Tasquinha do Manel" a very simple restaurant, traditional, where the lunch will be served.
- After lunch around 4:00 pm you will be returning to the hotels.
