Furnas w/ Lunch - Full Day

Starting from Ponta Delgada, we will start our tour on a circular route, along the south coast in the morning and return to the north coast of the island in the afternoon, where you will know and explore the coast, where we will stop at a traditional fishing port and next to the Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, as well as, to know all the process of elaboration of the pieces in clay in the ceramic factory Vieira, located in Vila da Lagoa.


Around the Lunch, we will be in Furnas and next to its lagoon, we will watch the withdrawal of the cookers from Cozido das Furnas, by the elements of the different restaurants that make this dish typical of the regional cuisine of São Miguel Island, after to explore its surrounding area that is rich in hot water, boilers and fumaroles, we will go to the center of Furnas, where you can try the “Cozido das Furnas” in a local restaurant.


After lunch it is time to visit another side of Furnas, where the strong smell of sulfur accompanies us throughout our visit, through the area of ​​boilers and hot springs, from which you can even taste the different flavors of the different springs there existing.


We will give you some time to relax a little, which can be a relaxing walk through Parque Terra Nostra, the largest botanical garden in São Miguel, or a thermal bath in the pools of Dona Beija, it is a small complex of small pools of thermal water, due to the proximity of a source of hot water.


We will leave with a bit of nostalgia for the Furnas and towards the north coast of the island of São Miguel, “is” a tasty tea of ​​local production waiting for us, in one of the factories of tea existing in our island, will know and to know everything the process and elaboration of the tea that is produced in the factory, especially the picking of the leaves, drying and packaging.


Lastly and before we take you back to your Hotel / Accommodation we will make the last stop of our tour, which will be in the Mirador de Sta Iria, point of great historical and scenic interest, that provide us with a pleasant view on the north coast and on the main high points of the island of São Miguel.
