Cádiz "the silver cup" , mythologically raised by Hercules after his tenth task. This small town founded by the Phoenicians in 1104 is considered the oldest city in Western Europe. For 3000 years the Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Visigoths, Muslims fought ... all attracted by its strategic position and the strength of its walls resisted attacks from Napoleon and the British privateer Francis Drake, among others . Cristobal Colón was rejected from the port of Cadiz on the second of his four voyages to the “New World”, one of the most important ports in the world relating to the conquest of America.
